Donia Jourabchi (Brussel) onderzoekt de contextuele relaties tussen lichaam en ruimte in de materialiteit van geluid – een experimentele benadering van de ruimtelijke praktijk van geluid door ruimtelijke en sonische strategieën te ontwikkelen die kunnen bijdragen aan maatschappelijk engagement in de fysieke ruimte. Ze was betrokken bij verscheidene samenwerkingen, zoals geluidssysteem-ontwerp, openbare interventies, experimentele muziek, dans en choreografie, elektroakoestische geluidstechnieken en improvisatie, geluidsregistratie, ruimtelijke amplificatie, installaties en composities, zelfbouw instrumenten, radiofonische kunst en grafisch ontwerp. Haar werk richt zich op ‘situated knowledges’ die zich manifesteren in de lichamelijkheid van geluid en reflecteert op de maatschappelijke omstandigheden in de context-afhankelijke gemeenschapsgerichte articulatie van locatiegebondenheid.
Donia Jourabchi (Brussels) is a sound explorer of contextual relations between body and space within the materiality of sound — an experimental approach towards a spatial practice of sound by designing spatial and sonic strategies that can be potential mechanisms of engaging the social within the physical space. She was involved in numerous collaborations, such as sound system design, public interventions, experimental music, dance and choreography, electroacoustic sound techniques and improvisation, sound registration, spatial amplification, installations and compositions, self-made instruments, radiophonic art, and graphic design. Her works question situated knowledges manifested in the physicality of sound, reflecting on the social conditions in the context-dependent and community-based articulation of site-specificity.
Taufan ter Weel (Delft) – architect, kunstenaar en onderzoeker met een interdisciplinaire benadering op het raakvlak architectuur, sociaal-ruimtelijk onderzoek en mediakunst (geluid in het bijzonder). Naast zijn eigen projecten werkt hij als gastdocent (2015-heden) bij Bouwkunde TU Delft (Leerstoel Architectuurtheorie), waar hij zijn master in architectuur behaalde met eervolle vermelding in 2009. Hij was werkzaam als instructeur (2009-2012) en gastdocent (2013-2014) bij Bouwkunde op de Haagse Hogeschool, waar hij eerder zijn bachelor had afgerond in 2006. Verder heeft hij onder andere als onderzoeker gewerkt bij Cohabitation Strategies in Rotterdam (2009-2010) en was artistiek leider (2010-2012) en co-leider (2013-2014) van Blikopener Festival & Producties in Delft. Hij werkt veel met de ruimtelijke aspecten van geluid en volgde hiervoor de eenjarige Sonologiecursus (2011-2012) op het Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag.
Taufan ter Weel (Delft) – architect, artist and researcher with an interdisciplinary approach at the intersection of sound art, architecture and socio-spatial research. Besides carrying out collaborative and independent projects, he works as guest teacher (2015-present) at TU Delft’s Faculty of Architecture (Theory Chair), where he also received his master degree in architecture with honorable mention in 2009. He has worked as part-time instructor (2009-2012) and guest teacher (2013-2014) at The Hague University of Applied Sciences (Built Environment department), where he earlier received his bachelor degree in 2006. Furthermore, he was a research member of Cohabitation Strategies in Rotterdam (2009-2010) as well as artistic leader (2010-2012) and co-leader (2013-2014) of Blikopener Festival & Productions in Delft. He performs live electronic music since 2001 and followed the Institute of Sonology’s one-year course program (2011-2012) at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague.
